Mariah McCammond began her journey as a luthier and instrument repair technician when she was employed at Southwest Strings starting in 2005. In 2008, she was apprenticed to Cy Amesquita of Blum & Amesquita Violins and the Violin Making School of America in Salt Lake City, Utah. She undertook additional study with Sara White of S.G. White Violins and the Chicago School of Violin Making, as well as local luthier Adan Rico. In 2010, she was apprenticed to Marco Rosano in the field of woodwind and brasswind repair. She then worked for Bookman’s, helping them launch their musical instrument department, before going out on her own as a performer, music teacher, and luthier.
